Linden Hall Linden Hall Northumberland, England. The marriage of Louise and Tom, at Linden Hall, Northumberland. Linden
Hall is near to Morpeth. well, sort of. it's about a ten minute drive North
of Morpeth,
ON TO LOUISE AND TOMS WEDDING !
first signs of wedding things . . I walk into Linden Hall, approach the staircase, and notice a flower, actually, two flowers, artfully placed, with ribbons and things, on the bannister.
then I hop upstairs and find the girls and where the girls are . . the makeup is . . that is one serious battery of makeup . . (it's the makeup artists bits n bobs . . .)
above, we see the makeup artist using a tiny teensie weensie bit of that makeup stuff on our lovely bride, Louise. (in my humble opinion, she doesn't need much makeup - she looks lovely anyway ..
I notice some extremely detailed embroidery - this is part of a little shoulder wrap thingy (bridal dress experts will know the name of it, but in my technical terms, it's a thingymajig. anyhow - I was impressed by the intricate embroidery .. so I took a picture of it . . no detailed description needed for the above picture
flowers.
I know . . you knew it was flowers . . didn't you . .
shoes. (doh - these captions are getting simpler and simpler)
guests.
ah . . but there's more to this one than meets the eye . . what are they looking at ? what are they filming.
err . . I think that's a tornado . . (really - it's a tornado. it's in its early stages, and fortunately, it hasn't touched down but it's real . . very real . . and it made an appearance seconds before the groom.
and this is the groom, being driven to his wedding by a family friend nice car, I hear you say . . what is it ? I hear you ask . . I'm not going to tell you . . I say . . but below . . is a clue.
this is the car steering wheel . . is it enough of a clue ? did you work out what sort of car this is ?
whaddya mean . . you're confused . . how simple can I make this ?
yes . . you know it's the back of a bridesmaids head . . I took the picture because I liked the circlet of flowers, and the soft focus scene behind them . . see . . I do some sensible things sometimes . .
speaking of sensible . .
the sensible squad arrive bridesmaids with . .
water pistols ? what the heck . . this isn't traditional wedding stuff . . .
waaaaah it's a stick up.
one squirt and they're dead.
I peek downstairs, and find that the scene is set . . . everything is ready for the wedding. months, possibly years of thought and planning . . and all for this moment !
a bunch of musicians do a bit of fiddling on the balcony whilst the guests await the bride and so does the groom . . but I've taken this picture from the front . . so you can't see him . . .
the moment has come the bride and her extremely proud father launch from the room and down the staircase !
Launch may have been the wrong word . . they walk sedately down the staircase to the sound of a string quartet.
does that sound better than launch down the stairs ?
for some bizarre reason - I decided to photograph a good deal of this wedding from above. bear with me . . it kinda makes sense . . ( I hope ! )
Tusing a zoomy lens thing . . I zoom in closer and we are able to see Louise and Tom being married . . hold on . . isn't that her father . . yes. Louise's father is carrying out the wedding. she couldn't have picked a nicer feller for the job . . Louise's father is Dennis Gray . . and he's a registrar of Marriages ! which is kind of handy today
the wedding - ongoing and a man in the corner looks like he's throwing something . . umm . . it's a video camera and I think he's filming. (well - he kinda looks like he's throwing it, doesn't he !).
more pictures from above does it make sense to you now no ? well it does to me . . I get a picture of everyone at the wedding and can see the whole scene from up here
do you take this man to be your wife ?
weddings can be a little bit emotional . . . . . . at this point, Tom is reading a vow to Louise and I guess it's hit the spot . . .
here . . have a ring . . .
here . . have a kiss . . :)
err. caption . . married !
no caption required here . .
confetti hurling is traditional at this point above, we see confetti hurlers . . .
and now the traditional . . err . . not .. this isn't traditional . . Tom now kidnaps his new bride and whisks her off in a golf buggy . .
is this for real ? ummm . . yes, I think it is !
I'm not sure exactly where they went . . . but they were accompanied by a heck of a racket . . courtesy of a lot of tin cans attached to the back of the buggy . .
and he brings her back too ! what a gentleman !
A bit of rain now starts to fall so we slide indoors the lady on the violin provides background music whilst the guests chat and mingle
chatting and mingling guests.
sometimes - when you look at people mingling from above they form interesting little patterns, social groupings . . I could watch them for ages . . they're fascinating . . but . . we need to get a few pictures taken .. . . so . .
since there's a portico at Linden Hall and it doesn't usually rain under portico's (unless the rain is falling horizontal or something) we take some pictures in the doorway . . so we're outdoors . . and everything looks lovely . . we just dont' get wet . .
hey . . never mind photographing bridesmaids
what about taking a picture of the girl with the lovely smile !
the picture above is positive proof that a couple of tiny spots of rain didn't spoil anything at all
so . . this is the Bigge suite at Linden Hall you're thinking . . this man has spelled Big incorrectly . . he's silly . .
well . . sorry folks for some odd reason Linden Hall has a Bigge Suite. that's the name on the door .. I guess that someone spelled it wrong about a hundred years ago and nobody changed it back . . .
so . . now we've cleared up the problem of the spelling . . Louise and Tom make a grand entrance into the Bigge Suite at Linden Hall. :)
and something is afoot . . above, we see the best man . . doing some lapdancing sorry . . I was only joking, he isn't lapdancing . .
his fingers are dancing over a laptop that sounds bad too, doesn't it . .
heck . . I'll keep it simple. he's typing something into a laptop - and that's a huge projector screen behind him.
One proud and happy brides father, makes his speech
and a toast !
then Tom makes his speech I'm not sure what the 'deepest sympathy' card is about but everything is in good humour today
speaking of good humour . . above, we see the groom being demolished by the best mans speech.
and now a bridesmaid is ceremonially presented with a pair of wellies . .
well . . it did rain rather a lot. so she hopped outside to road test the wellies in a puddle.
as one does . . .
:)
a totally unexpected surprise was our Groom Tom, walking over to the grand piano at Linden Hall and playing some music for his new wife which made for some, totally unexpected, but rather good pictures.
I'm guessing that these images will give Louise and Tom some deep and lasting memories.
on, to the party . . above, Louise hurls her bouquet at the bridesmaids guess who caught it . .
I'm not going to tell you . . :)
a lady toots a trumpet . . and dancing begins (seriously, it wasn't simply a lady tooting a trumpet . . there was a band with her).
I think perhaps this dance has been rehearsed . . :)
after the bride and grooms first dance everyone gets onto the dance floor even a little bridesmaid who - in a rather cute fashion, stands gazing at the grown ups . .
Louise grabs a slightly older bridesmaid and gives her a spin whilst off to camera right one of the guests banks his left wing down and makes a swooping turn as he zooms across the dance floor or he might just be caught in the act of tripping up . . I prefer the zooming flying across the dance floor story . . so we'll stick with that . .
outside, the rain has stopped, and we hop out to enjoy the cool evening air
and above. the last picture of the day which oddly enough . . was the first picture in the wedding album (it was the cover !)
thank you Louise and Tom this has been one of the most enjoyable days . .
:)
