Close House, Heddon on the Wall, Newcastle on Tyne Janet and Martin, chose Close House Hotel for their Wedding.
we begin the story at Janet's mums house . . where - there is flower pandemonium lots of flowers,
it's O.K. Janet has control of things,
do you think I ought to get into the wedding dress yet ? well - I'm wearing the veil . . that's a start . . :)
Janet has a quick picture with her mum Janets mum is extremely important to her (and rightly so !).
a bunch of girls pose for a picture whilst a feller watches from the safety of a corner seat . . . sorry . . there's no escape from pictures . . if you're in the room . . . . you're part of the story !
this is a clue, to let you know which group of people are the subject of the next series of pictures . .
it's the fellers and have you noticed the cars . . . ?
yep . . they've got wooden bits
the groom, his best man and ushers appear . . and have a picture taken. jolly bunch . . aren't they !.
We'd better feature Close House in a picture or you'll think that this wedding is all about classic cars . .
well . . it is . . . sort of . .
I know, I know, the wedding is a commitment, and Janet & Martin love each other to bits . . . but . . they like their classic cars . . .
and many of the guests are arriving in Triumph cars . .
one beaming bride arriving in . . . you guessed it . . a Triumph car . .
at this point . . . . I run away . .
I then hop inside, to find . . . . Martin, our groom, pacing back and forth . . not nervous of course . . .
the man turns and watches the girl of his dreams walk up the aisle toward him. she's made his day !.
and it's just possible that he's also made her day too ! . .. this girl is so very happy . . her big beaming smiles show it !.
here's the serious bit . . words are spoken by the registrar, more words are spoken back . . . will you take this girl . . .umm yes . . possibly . . :)
family and friends watch the proceedings
and a little girl gives a reading supported by her parents . .
what's in the box ? yes it's a ring . .
here . . Martin places the ring on Janets finger.
Martin and Janet exchange solemn promises well, maybe not too solemn . . serious words maybe . . what a lucky man . . .
the marriage register is signed more stuff happens. I take pictures of more stuff . . . as you do . . . .
at this point, I notice their hands . . it's body language, isn't it
I think that the hands show tenderness they show that this man cares a great deal about his bride.
our couple prepare to walk down the aisle above - you have a violins eye view of the situation.
I take picures o fthose hands again . . . he's making sure that the ring fits properly. his other hand is holding champagne . . see . . even these pictures,
Guests relax in Close House after the wedding and our bride enjoys making her way, from group to group, socialising.
we whizz outside for a few moments take a quick picture of Janet and Martin . . err . . are they in a carpark or something . . . are those . . . car bonnets ?
yes . .
well . . the cars are part of the story - so we include them in our pictures.
I forgot to mention, this was quite a breezy day . .
did I mention the breeze . . ? . and when the veil blows all over the place . . is the groom filled with sympathy ?
we hop back inside and take a bunch of pictures of our bride and groom . .
what's that, you say ? you want to see the room at Close House, set out for the wedding breakfast . . . alright then . . here it is . . . it looks good, doesn't it !.
guess what the tables are named after ?
O.K. . . if you didn't quite guess it, a Spitfire is the name of a classic car . .
I zoom in on one of those table deccies . I think that this is a peacock feather . . I hope that it didn't hurt when it was plucked out of the peackocks bum.
cue . . loud squawks all over the UK
as these pictures spark off a fashion for peacock feathers at weddings and brides to be, all over the land sneak about on all fours . . creeping up on Peacocks . .
you can just imagine it . . . well . . I can . .
above . . I have artfully made a picture of a pile of crayons and scribbling implements . . there were lots of children at the wedding and our bride and groom made absolutely sure that the children had things to keep them amused .
more of that later . . the kids were amused, big time . . . there were giant cardboard, racing cars . . . and . . read on and you'll find out . . . . it was rather good.
I become transfixed by the symmetry of a trio of deccies sporting peacock feathers so I take a picture of it . . . it's kinda hypnotic, isn't it !.
speeches ensue . . this feller isn't using notes, he's holding them so that he can't see them . .
seriously, this chap was an excellent speaker and he kept the room enthralled I step back to get a picture of an enthralled room.
he was funny too. .
gosh is this girl happy !
this is the amusement laid on for the children
it's . . well . . I'm not going to tell you . .
that it's a classic car rally involving cardboard cars around a circuit made up of groups of grown ups . .
oh . . I told you . . . drat
chief (boss) bridesmaid explains to the wedding guests and the children . . . how it's all going to work some of the cars have a little sticker on . . it's Martins company logo.
anyway - one bunch of guests are told that they are one of the staging points in the race and they have to imitate water, or the sea, or waves or something
so . . the people to the left are making wave shapes with their arms whilst the very inventive usher to the right finds that he can imitate spray by simply spraying his drink about . .
stuff the kids . . this is a race . . . Martin takes the lead in his car . .
but the pack are gaining on him . .
I'm not sure if this feller came in first or last . . he seemed content to wander about in a kilt surrounded by a cardboard car, and blowing a whistle . .
he'll grow up to be something interesting . . I'm sure . .
and the winner is . .
guests retreat to the lounge area at Close House to discuss the results of the race
and this panel of experts decide whether the grown ups really won or was it the kids . . . ?
awwww . . look at this . . . it's a
( I never did find out what it was . . . ).
a portrait of a best man on his mobile at this point, I started making lots of pictures the things that people do when they're left to their own devices,
ah - dancing . . and our extremely . . did I say extremely ? our extremely happy couple are on the dance floor and . . . the groom dances with an usher this is normal . .
it isn't like a relationship or anything . .
one final picture and we couldn't resist getting those classic sports cars into it . ..
a lovely couple . . and their perfect day . .
