so when told how flipping marvellous a photographer is (usually by himself) you might wish to ask . .
in which year did you actually get that award ? . . .. .ten years ago . . . hmmm
the dangerous thing is to believe that because you've won some awards - you're really good,
as far as I'm concerned - I'm only as good as my last set of pictures.

previous to 2000 - I hadn't actually bothered to enter for any awards,

my photo lab was constantly asking me to try - I entered - simply to keep them happy,
